Lawmaker David Bisnowaty advocates for proper usage of public funds

LILONGWE (MaraviPost)—Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City Centre Constituency, David Bisnowaty has emphasized the need for proper usage of public funds  meant for the poor with economic policy prudence.

The call comes amid the general outcry on executive extravagance usage of public resources which among things have attributed to dwindling of social services.

In an exclusive interview with the Maravi Post on prospects ahead of November 6, 2015’s Parliament session opening, MP Bisnowaty assured his constituents asking government to task on proper usage of taxes saying the country has enough resources catering all only corruption was burden.

This is also his second stance on the country’s leadership fiscal discipline after in September this year-2015 wrote an open letter to Reserve Bank of Malawi on how commercial Banks are robbing Malawians by questioning the bank’s role to protect Malawians from fraudulent act.

Bisnowaty observed that tax-payers money is being misused especially on foreign trips citing two government department directors who were recently sent to china for independence celebration by spending large some of money which could have been allocated to buy drugs in hospitals.

“On thing I have noted is that every time a new government comes in tend to issue a ban on foreign trips but the practice is different. When you investigate, you realize that it’s rip saying. Every one in government competes for foreign trips which cost the public’s money.

“We want public officers to be in office working, assisting us on services need be, not willy-nilly travelling which incurs lots of money meant for the poor. Malawi has enough resources for all but corruption remains a cancer for the country”, observed Bisnowaty.

On his one year stay as an MP for Lilongwe City Centre,  Bisnowaty boasted major achievements including fixing markets toilets for sanitation, new water connection points (Kiosks), fixing city’s streets lights, upgrading roads, removing markets waste among others attributing to constituency and council good working relationships.

“Currently, big projects are underway in my constituency including modern secondary school upgrading in Area 25 at Kabwabwa with funding from Japanese Government. Cigarette Company will open soon and it’s expected to employ a lot of young people, upgrading roads and fixing water facilities points.

“The good thing is that most of constituency developmental projects are done from local resources as there is now transparent on the use of funds due to my coming and councilors. The one year achievement has surpassed the past 20 years which means that by end of my term as Member of Parliament more will be done in transforming the area which is the hub of the country’s capital city”, boasted Bisnowaty.

On the forthcoming August seating, the legislator assured the general public of the continue pushing government to bring formidable bills meant to help Malawians including the much awaited land bill and government fiscal discipline among others.

“Last seating of Parliament, we passed the Marriage bill which was a milestone for our young girls and women protection as such the same trend will continues in this coming session. We expect to know clearly as to why the country is off-track on IMF’s Credit Facility. Apart from that, will support all health related bills which might be presented in the house and also on land bill which has a social-economic component to rural people”, assures Bisnowaty.

Bisnowaty is Jewish business tycoon who has a family of three children assured his constituents of continuing providing much need support with the use of generated local resources for infrastructure development and transforming people’s lives.
