Malawi anti Quota demos underway in Mzuzu

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The Anti Quota System demonstrations which were slated to take place today have been held in the Northern City of Mzuzu.

The demos which have started in the late morning have taken off from Katoto Secondary School Grounds to Mzuzu Government Secondary School where a petition will be delivered.

Speaking during the demonstrations, Chairperson of the Anti Quota Movement, Bina Shaba said they are conducting peaceful demos as a way of aaking the government to nullify the selection of the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Examination (PSLCE) for this year.

This is the second time the Anti Quota Movement is holding demonstrations in the city.

The first demos, which were held on 10th September in the City, Mzimba and Nkhata Bay Districts; but Chitipa and Rumphi Districts failed to do so citing security concerns.

During the first demonstrations, Minister of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Dr William Susuwele Banda expressed shock upon hearing about  the same; arguing that a committee was put in place to look into the issue at hand.
