Malawi Court convicts Catholic priest Muhosha, five others in Masambuka murder case

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In Blantyre, High Court Judge Dorothy Nyakaunda Kamanga on Thursday, April 28, 2022 convicted 5 of 12 people for the murder of MacDonald Masambuka, a boy with Albinism in 2018.

This follows the arrest of 12 suspects who were accused of transacting human tissues business after the killing of a person with albinism in Machinga in 2018.

The five suspects are Cassim White Masambuka, Maxwell Matchina Sosola, Dickson Manesi Ndengu, Bashir Lilongwe and Alfred Yohane.

The court has also convicted roman Catholic priest, Fr Thomas Muhosha, Chikondi Chileka, police officer and a Clinical officer from Machinga District Hospital, Lumbani Kamanga on related Charges.

Judge Dorothy Nyakaunda arrived at this decision after being convinced by the evidence brought before the court by the state that the accused committed the offense with intention to cause death.

The Court is yet to deliver its ruling against the accused in the remaining three charges which are possession of human tissues, trafficking in persons and extracting human tissues

Masambuka went missing on March 9 2018 and his body was later found buried in the garden on April 2, 2018 near Makawa Village in senior Chief Mkoowola.

In an interview with Maravi Post, The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steven Kayuni has expressed gratitude towards the judgement by the court.
