BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—South Africa based veteran footballer Esau Kanyenda, who is playing for Polokwane City, plans to venture into coaching after having a successful football career in the Rainbow nation.Kanyenda told ZBS that this is his last season to play in South Africa saying he has done enough in football.
“Yeah, I am planning to retire and start coaching courses. I will be nurturing the youngsters in Malawi. Having interacted with different top coaches in my football career, I hope I have amassed experience to take a coaching role.
“I will be happy to coach one of the super league teams in Malawi or the national team or some clubs here in South Africa,” said Kanyenda.
He also said he will be doing some businesses in the country.
The only Malawian to have tasted European Champions League football while at Lokomotiv Moscow, Russia, Kanyenda did not disclose more details on his investments.
But he is reportedly to be the richest Malawian footballer with investments such as houses and maize mills.
Kanyenda and Fischer Kondowe are the only survivors still playing from the under-20 side Hoener and Alex Masanjala groomed comprising Simeon SimeonKapuza, KachibowoMalunga, Allan Kamanga, James Kaniche, Patrick Mangani, Peter Mgangira, Maxwell Chirwa, late Chikondi Banda, Andrew Chikhosi, MuzipasiMwangonde, late Bright Phiri, Peter Mponda, MaupoMsowoya, James Chimera Jnr, Fundi Akidu, Allen Kusapali, FaziliMbundi and GanizaniMalunga.
Kanyenda played for Dwasco, JomoCosmaos, Rostov, Lokomotiv Moscow and now Polokwani City.
