LILONGWE (Maravi Post)—Malawians led by Mulanje South Parliamentarian Bon Kalindo staged their much publicized naked demonstrations in the fight against the killings of people with Albinism.The demonstrators conveyed defiant message to Amnesty International— a global defender of human right—that they should go to “hell” for objecting proposals that Malawi Parliament should enact and/or force to implement the death penalty on the people guilty of killing people with Albinism.
They argued that Parliamentarians are elected by Malawians and therefore they must pass laws suiting Malawians hence Amnesty International must stop meddling with the internal affairs of the Malawi sovereign state.
Malawi Albinos have of late been abducted and brutally killed. The ignorant and poor Malawians involved in the killings of people with Albinism foolishly believe that Albino bones will end their poverty just overnight.
I was in Texas, USA and the death penalty does not only exist but it is enforced. Why can’t Amnesty International start with the big fish-USA and end with us? On the other hand research has shown that the death penalty is useless as it does not deter would be murderers from committing the crime. Therefore, to be fare, the playing field should be level i.e. no death penalty in Texas and some selected states in USA first, then no death penalty in the whole world.
