
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera has appointed a cabinet committee which will, among other things, provide high level strategic and policy advice to government with a view to promoting private sector, MaraviPost has learnt.
According to a statement from the Chief Secretary to the government released on Friday, the committee will act as an effective platform for the regular consultations between the private and public sectors and ensure that business environment is competitive and supports the development of public private partnerships as well as the creation and attraction of new businesses.
The committee, which is is dominated by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) members, will be chaired by the Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima.
Members of the committee are as follows: Honourable Felix Mlusu, Minister of Finance, Honourable Sidik Mia, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Honourable Kenny Edward Kandodo, M.P, Minister of Labour, Honourable Newton Kambala, Minister of Energy, Honourable Sosten Alfred Gwengwe, M.P, Minister of Trade and Honourable Roy Kachale Banda, Minister of Industry.
From the list, four members are of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) while the People’s Party (PP) and UTM have one each in the name of Roy Kachale and Newton Kambala respectively.
