MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Major referral hospitals in the country have started to put strict mechanisms in place in case of any possible outbreaks of Corona Virus.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre has since this week limited number of guardians to one per patient as visiting hours in other wards have completely been suspended as one way of minimizing congestion in the wards.

At Kamuzu Central Hospital, Skin Department has been left aside as a treatment centre for Corona Virus.

While confirming the development the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Chiyanjano Kazombo, said all measures to combat the virus are in place.

At Mzuzu Central Hospital preparations are also bettering towards readiness to deal with any outbreak. Arnold Kayira, Spokesperson for Northen Region referral hospital, has confirmed the situation saying, in their case, they have not yet started to limit guardians in the wards.

However, Spokesperson in the Ministry of Health and Population, Joshua Malango, asked for more time before commenting on the situation.
