BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that USA-based women’s football Scorchers international prospect Chioma Okafor has decided to commit her international football career to Nigeria.
Born in Malawi to a Nigerian father and a Malawian mother, Okafor has yet to play for a Malawian national team at any level.
Following discussions held with her parents on June 18, 2025, Okafor confirmed her intention to represent Nigeria.
The University of Connecticut striker was initially called up for the Scorchers’ international friendlies against Zambia in February but was unavailable for selection due to academic commitments.
The FAM received official communication from the Nigeria Football Federation indicating Okafor’s commitment to play for the West African nation.
she will be representing Nigeria on the international stage.
