MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The Anti Corruption Bureau’s (ACB) Director General, Reyneck Matemba on Thursday took a swipe at the Malawi’s Judicial System for acting unprofessionally and virtually corruptly by issuing a stop oder at the midnight to the warrant of arrest of the Chief Executive Officer for First Discount House ( FDH ) , Dr. Thomson Mpinganjira.
Speaking in an interview with one local radio station, Matemba said the judicial system must do soul searching to see whether or not the system lives its purpose.
While sounding highly emotional and charged, Matemba said the decision of the Magistrate Court in Zomba to issue a stop order to the arrest of Dr. Mpinganjira, is not only disgusting but also sign of a rotten judicial system.
Matemba further said this is sad day to the justice system in the country.
Meanwhile, the Malawi Law Society (MLS) and a professor of law at the University of Malawi’s Chancellor College, Guton Kamchezera, have bemoaned the issuance of the stop order by Magistrate Benedicto Chisakamire in Zomba.
On Wednesday, ACB arrested Dr. Thomson Mpinganjira on allegation that he is one of the individuals who attempted to bribe the five judges who are currently compiling judgment of the presidential election case in Lilongwe.
