TUM Vows with demos until all teachers get their salaries

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi teachers in Lilongwe on Thursday blocked entrance of the government offices at Capital Hill amid protest over outstanding December 2019, salaries.

According to Teachers Union of Malawi (Tum) Secretary General Charles Kumchenga, some teachers have started receiving their salaries as promised by government but some still have their salaries unpaid.

Some teachers have demanded explanation from government officials, arguing the salaries that have been accredited in their bank accounts is reflecting as January 2020 pay.

Meanwhile police officers at Capital Hill have blocked the teachers them from entering the premises, arguing they do not have any authorization letter.
