BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s innovative approach to education through the Building Education Foundation through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) Programme has caught the attention of Rwanda.
A delegation from Rwanda’s Basic Education Board, led by Deputy Director General Flora Motezigaju, visited Chinyata Primary School in Mchinji to learn from the programme.
The team was impressed by the programme’s impact on learners and its potential for replication in Rwanda.
The BEFIT Programme’s use of tablets to enhance learning has shown promising results, with learners demonstrating ease in navigating digital tools.
The programme’s impact on improving numeracy and literacy in lower classes has also been notable. This innovative approach has not only motivated learners but also increased enrollment in schools.
The Rwanda delegation was particularly impressed by the programme’s ability to reach a large number of schools across Malawi.
With 960 schools across Malawi benefiting from the programme, it’s clear that the initiative is making a significant difference.
The Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Rachel Chimbwete Phiri, highlighted the programme’s success in increasing enrollment and improving learning outcomes.
The programme’s reach and impact have made it a model worth emulating, not just in Malawi but also in other countries.
Chinyata Primary School’s experience with the BEFIT Programme has been particularly noteworthy.
Since introducing the programme, the school has seen a significant increase in enrollment, from 954 to nearly 1400 learners.
