MCHINJI-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police in Mchinji are keeping in custody a clinician at Mchinji District Hospital Lovemore Phiri for defiling a seven year old girl.
Mchinji Police Officer in charge, George Mtetemera, confirmed the development that the 40 year old man was indeed arrested on Monday, December 28, 2020.
According to police reports on Sunday, December 27, 2020 the suspect and other people organized a party, after the party, the suspect started offering lifts to the party participants including the victim who is his neighbor’s and friend’s daughter.
It is believed that the victim was the last person to be offered the lift and in the process the suspect raped her at his home.
However, Mtetemera is therefore arguing the general public that it is important to work hand in hand with Police in reducing defilement cases as it seems such cases are rising in the country.
Phiri who is expected to appear before court soon hails from Kamoza village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Mkumbira in Nkhatabay district.
