Malawi’s VP Ansah embraces Zambia’s N’cwala Festival

LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s Vice-President, Jane Ansah attended the annual N’cwala Ceremony on Saturday, a significant cultural event that brings together thousands of Ngoni people from across the region.

She was welcomed by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at Mtenguleni, the ceremony’s venue.

The Master of Ceremony extended a warm welcome to Ansah, inviting her to feel at home at the 2026 N’cwala Ceremony in Chipata, Zambia.

Ansah, who was attending the festival as a special guest, strengthened ties between Malawi and Zambia’s Ngoni communities, highlighting the importance of regional unity and cooperation.

The N’cwala Ceremony is a revered tradition among the Ngoni people, marking the beginning of the harvest season and honoring their ancestral heritage.

The event featured traditional dances, rituals, and the symbolic tasting of the season’s first crops by the Paramount Chief, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Ngoni people.
