DRC boxer Kabeya silences Malawi’s Lion Masamba on points

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Limbani “The Lion” Masamba has suffered a painful defeat after losing on points to Democratic Republic of Congo’s Aristote Kabeya in a thrilling international boxing contest staged in Lilongwe on Sunday.

The high stakes bout, organized by Youth Boxing Promotions, attracted boxing lovers from across the capital who came eager to witness a fierce battle between the Malawian warrior and the visiting Congolese challenger.

For eight explosive rounds, Masamba and Kabeya exchanged heavy blows in a contest that lived up to its billing.

The crowd roared with every punch as both fighters showed determination, stamina and tactical discipline inside the ring.

However, when the final bell rang and the judges tallied their scorecards, it was Kabeya who emerged victorious.

The Congolese boxer was declared winner on points after outclassing Masamba in key moments of the fight.

Kabeya displayed sharp movement and relentless aggression, fighting with the intensity of a man on a mission. His calculated combinations and ring control proved decisive against the hometown favorite.

Speaking after the loss, Masamba admitted the fight was extremely tough.

He described the contest as “hot” and physically demanding, acknowledging that his opponent came fully prepared and determined to secure victory.

“The Lion” said Kabeya brought power and focus into the ring, making it difficult to dominate the exchanges.

Despite the setback, Masamba remained composed, signaling that this defeat will not define his boxing journey.

On the other hand, Kabeya made it clear that he came to Malawi with a purpose.

He said he wanted to prove a point and silence the bold talk that had surrounded the fight.

According to Kabeya, Masamba had spoken strongly before the bout, promising to defeat him.
The Congolese fighter said that motivated him even more to deliver a convincing performance.

Kabeya further warned that he is ready for any challenger in Malawi. Confident after his victory, he declared that anyone willing to face him should step forward, as he is prepared to “punish” them in the ring.

Interestingly, this is not Kabeya’s first triumph over the Masamba camp.

A few months ago, he also defeated Limbani’s elder brother, Wilson “Sha Sha” Masamba, adding more weight to his growing reputation in the region.
