President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni

GULU-(MaraviPost)-President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni has alleged that gangs affiliated with opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, have been involved in violent attacks on people.

The President made these remarks amidst reports of clashes between security forces and Kyagulanyi’s supporters during campaign events.

Kyagulanyi has denied these allegations, accusing the Museveni-led government of orchestrating violence against his supporters.

The Electoral Commission of Uganda has condemned the violence, calling for investigations into the incidents and urging law enforcement agencies to exercise restraint.

In Gulu, 41 suspects were detained in connection with assaults and looting during a campaign rally by Kyagulanyi, with police alleging that one Alenga Fatuma was the mastermind behind the mobilisation of criminal gangs.

The situation has sparked concerns about the safety of citizens and the integrity of the electoral process.

Kyagulanyi’s National Unity Platform has accused the government of using security forces to sabotage their campaign efforts.

The government has rejected these claims, attributing the violence to criminal elements.
