Today, Friday, October 31, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Malawi’s history as His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi, officially opens the 52nd Session of Parliament.

The House welcomed its new Speaker, Sameer Suleman, who secured 134 votes, defeating his closest contender, Peter Dimba. Victor Musowa and Esther Jolobala were also elected as First Deputy Speaker and Second Deputy Speaker, respectively.

President Mutharika congratulated the newly elected leaders, expressing confidence in their ability to steer the House towards the betterment of Malawi.
