LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust has called upon all Malawians of different political colours to observe and exercise peace ahead of the fresh presidential elections in the next 150 days.

In a press statement released by the institution on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, NICE commended legal and political players in the country as the Judiciary, the general assembly, the media, the security agencies and the religious bodies for their noble duties in sensitising all the people on the need to remain peaceful for the sake of the nation.

The statement which was signed by NICE’s Executive Director Ollen Mwalubunju further urged those political parties which have emerged victorious after the presidential elections case ruling to celebrate in a peaceful manner without inciting any scenes of violence.

In a judgement delivered on Monday, February 3, 2020, the Constitutional Court in Lilongwe nullified the presidential elections results; and further declared fresh presidential polls in the next 150 days; weekends and public holidays inclusive.
