OGUN STATE-(MaraviPost)- A 54-year old man in Nigeria, Daud Bello, allegedly killed a 71- year old partner in child trafficking business before cutting off the victim’s wrists and ankles in Ogun state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the news of the tragedy in a statement adding that the suspect was arrested.
According to Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested following the sudden disappearance of the victim who left her home on June 8 and didn’t return.
Premium Times reported that the relatives of the victim reported a case of a missing person at Sabo/Ilupeju police station in the town before the case was transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The anti-kidnapping unit traced the last known located of the victim at the house of the suspect, and investigations indicated that both the victim and the suspect were child traffickers and on the day of the incident, they had planned to discuss their normal business.
” The suspect invited the victim on that fateful day to discuss their usual business, but on getting to his house, he discovered that the victim came with what he thought was a huge amount of money.
“This made him hit the woman on the head with a heavy wooden stick, which made the woman be unconscious after which he carried the unconscious body of the victim to the bush where he finally snuffed life out of her before he took out her ankles and wrists,” said Oyeyemi in a statement.
The suspect also confessed that he had sold the body parts to a ritualist who is currently on the run.
He was escorted by police to the bush where he buried the victim in a shallow grave, and the dismembered her body.
Meanwhile the body of the deceased was transferred to mortuary and police has ordered the case to be taken to court after investigation.
