Nigerian striker Ighalo banned from Manchester United training ground amid fears of Coronavirus

LONDON-(MaraviPost)-Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo has been banned from Manchester United training ground due to fears over Coronavirus.

The striker who arrived from China to join Manchester United on loan until the end of the season is considered to be a suspected carrier of the virus and has been put on 14-days incubation period.

The 31-year-old Nigerian striker joined United on loan from Shanghai Shenhua and arrived in Manchester from China on February 1.

Since his arrival in England, Ighalo has been carrying out his fitness work at the National Taekwondo Centre in Manchester instead of the United’s training ground.

As reported by The Times, United’s medical staff believe the chances of Ighalo having coronavirus are ‘remote’ but the striker has been told not to visit the club’s Carrington training ground as a precaution.

United’s first-team squad flew to Spain last Saturday for their warm-weather training camp in Marbella and Ighalo is expected to join them at Carrington on Saturday.

The Coronavirus originated from the Chinese town of Wuhan and it is now standard practice for everyone who has been in the south-Asian country to be quarantined for 14 days.

Coronavirus has already claimed the lives of more than 1000 lives and has already led to the cancellation and postponement of several sporting activities in China including the 2020 Chinese Super League and the Chinese Grand Prix.
