No hope for Malawi’s forex scarcity cover

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-It has finally being confirmed by the Department of Economic Planning that forex scarcity will not resolved soon.

Principal Secretary for the Department said this on Thursday, May as they appear before the parliamentary committee on Budget and Finance.

Masanjala said with the country poor exportation expertise forex problem will not be solved soon.

On behalf of the Chair,Member of parliament for Kasungu North East ,Paul Nkhoma their is no short term measure to resolve the problem but as a committee hope for the solution soon.

Nkhoma said slowness of the project by the current regime has impacted in the forex shortage.

He said COVID-19 pandemic as well as Ukraine and Russia war has affect a lots in economic planning globally and the country is one of the victims.

The lawmaker said the country should start producing things that can be exported to remove the negative balance on forex.

Meanwhile Ethiopian and Kenyan airlines stopped providing tickets to the Country over forex scarcity.
