Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Justin Saidi and Accountant General, Sungani Mandala, have disclosed that salaries for teachers who were removed on the December payroll for not submitting their National IDs but later submitted have all been paid.

Saidi and Mandala said this during a joint press briefing at Capital Hill in Lilongwe Wednesday afternoon.

Saidi said since salaries for the teachers had now been paid direct to their bank accounts, there would be no need for them to be gathering at District Council offices for a pay parade.

Mandala said banks had been instructed to clear all the cheques same day.

Saidi also warned against usage of children in demonstrations saying this is unacceptable.

He has however assured all teachers that Government will make sure that come January, all those who are in the system, will be paid in time.

Meanwhile, Mandala has called upon all those teachers and other civil servants who still have not submitted their IDs, to do so in order that they are incorporated in the system.

7,167 teachers who did not submit their IDs were removed from the pay system.
