Seed-Co, a leading seed manufacturing company in Africa, has donated K5 million towards preparations for the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) 2025 Business Leaders’ Summit.

The summit, scheduled to take place in Mangochi next week, aims to address key issues affecting the country’s economy.

During the handover ceremony in Lilongwe, Seed-Co Group Quality Assurance Manager Dan Dandalo expressed the company’s appreciation for MCCCI’s tireless efforts in advocating for Malawian businesses.

“Our partnership with MCCCI underscores our shared vision for a thriving business community and a brighter future for Malawi,” Dandalo said, adding that, “By supporting initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and trade, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development and prosperity.”

MCCCI Chief Executive Officer Daisy Kambalame welcomed the donation, highlighting the significance of the summit in driving economic growth and development.

The conference will focus on critical issues such as digital transformation of the economy, the private sector’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) strategy, and how businesses can address challenges facing the country.

As a pan-African seed company, Seed-Co develops seeds for various crops, including maize, wheat, sorghum, rice, sugar beans, and soybeans.

Their commitment to innovating climate-smart, high-yielding seed solutions aligns with Malawi’s agricultural development goals.

This partnership demonstrates the private sector’s crucial role in supporting initiatives that foster economic growth and development.

The MCCCI has been instrumental in promoting Malawi’s private sector development, advocating for policies that support businesses. In its 2024 Business Environment Assessment Report, MCCCI highlighted the country’s projected economic growth rate of 3.2 percent, attributed to improved macroeconomic stability and increased agricultural production.

However, the report also emphasized persistent challenges, including high production costs, steep interest rates, and exchange rate uncertainties that hinder investment and job creation.

The Business Leaders’ Summit provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies for addressing these challenges and leveraging opportunities for economic growth. With Seed-Co’s donation, the MCCCI is well-positioned to host a successful summit that will shape the country’s economic future.

The event will bring together business leaders, policymakers, and experts to share insights and experiences on driving economic growth and development.

By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, the summit aims to contribute to Malawi’s development aspirations outlined in the Malawi 2063 Vision.

Seed-Co’s support for the MCCCI’s Business Leaders’ Summit demonstrates the company’s commitment to contributing to Malawi’s economic development.

As the country strives to achieve its development goals, partnerships between the private sector and organizations like MCCCI will be crucial in driving progress and prosperity.

With the summit just around the corner, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential outcomes and the role they can play in shaping Malawi’s economic future.

The MCCCI, established in 1892, has a long history of advocating for the interests of Malawian businesses. With its headquarters in Blantyre and regional chambers in Lilongwe and Mzuzu, the organization plays a vital role in promoting private sector development and contributing to the country’s socio-economic growth.

The K5 million donation from Seed-Co to MCCCI’s 2025 Business Leaders’ Summit is a testament to the growing partnership between the private sector and business organizations in Malawi.

As the country moves forward, such collaborations will be essential in driving economic growth, promoting entrepreneurship, and achieving development goals.
