The game between Silver Strikers and Bullets FC, which at Civo Stadium on Saturday, which marked the official opening of the 2015 TNM Super League, has raised K12 million.
But the figure has come under fire amid reports that unscrupulous people printed counterfeits tickets which found their way on the market.
The two teams shared K2,319,863 each, stadium owners got K2,319,863 as well, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and SULOM pocketed K929,945.
Other stakeholders including Police, cashiers and supervisors, stewards, St Johns Ambulance and paramedics sharing K2,228,48.
Bullets Vice-President Austin Kasito said as the club they were not satisfied with the money realised at the gates.
“We could have realised more money but some crooks used fake tickets to watch the match. We don’t have sponsors so we would depend on gate collections so it is said that some people printed their own tickets for the game,” Kasito said.
Silver Strikers General Secretary Mike Tembo also concurred with his Bullets counterpart saying that the money collected was on the lower side.
Fans paid K1,000 for Open Stands to watch the game in a stadium which was filled to capacity.
SULOM Treasurer Tiya Somba has since disclosed that the association has also expressed its concern over the money collected as it has come short of their target of K15 million.
Somba said the association has demamnded a report from a firm Fellowship Association of Malawi which was outsourced to manage the gate collection.
“We also concerned that we have not realised not even the minimum target of K15 million because the stadium was filled to capacity,” Somba said.
“We have request a report from the firm which handled the gates and also we want Police to explain what might have happened regarding reports that some fans manhandled a cashier and made away with at K3 million.”
