South Africa Communication minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams

PRETORIA-(MaraviPost)-South Africa’s minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has pleaded guilty and paid R1 000 fine after breaching Covid-19 lockdown regulations that the state president imposed on them earlier this month.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane Confirmed this on Wednesday, 22 April 2020.

According to Mjonondwane, the investigations after a picture of the minister emerged on social media having a meal at the home of former deputy minister have all pointed out to the minister unlawfully and intentionally breaking the law.

Report by News 24 has revealed that she now has a criminal record following the incident.

Ndabeni-Abrahams was also placed on special leave for two months after she visited the home of former deputy minister of higher education Mduduzi Manana while everyone else was under lockdown.

President Ramaphosa ordered her to publicly apologise to the country after a meeting with her where he expressed his disapproval and told her she had undermined lockdown regulations which required all citizens to stay at home to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the NPA has warned all citizens against any action against the national lockdown regulations as they will be face the law.
