South African travellers can collect and redeem their free Cableway birthday ticket on any day during their birthday month. For example: visitors born in April can collect and redeem their free ticket on any day in April (even if it’s before their actual birthday). To redeem, please present a valid South African identity document, driving license or birth certificate at the Ticket Office or Visitor Information Centre.

Two Oceans Aquarium

Explore the Two Oceans Aquarium for free during your birthday month. You can collect your complimentary birthday ticket from the Aquarium’s onsite ticket office when you present your valid South African identification, such as your ID or passport, driver’s license, or a copy of your birth certificate.

Cape Wheel

Sign up on the Cape Wheel’s website for their Birthday Club to claim your free ticket. 

Fill in the application form to receive your birthday voucher via email. The signup must be done before a guest’s birthday, then on the day of their birthday they receive the 30-day birthday voucher. The voucher is valid for 30 days, but if you don’t have the printed voucher, you may only redeem the free ride on the day of your birthday when you show a valid South African ID.

Zeitz MOCAA 

Stop by any day during your birthday month (Tuesday to Sunday) to redeem your free entry ticket to the Zeitz MOCAA. Hailed as the largest museum of contemporary art in Africa, visitors will need to present a valid South African ID or African passport to redeem it. 

You can also enjoy free entry every Wednesday from 10am to 1pm, available for all African citizens with a valid identification.

Children between the ages of 4 and 17 years get a free one-day classic bus ticket for their birthday. The birthday boy or girl can also bring along one friend for free on the day (also aged 4–17). They must be accompanied by one adult riding at full price. Register two weeks before the birthday to receive the ticket by e-mail, which will be valid for four weeks (one week before the child’s birthday and three weeks after).

The Galileo Open Air Cinema  

If your birthday falls within The Galileo Open Air Cinema season, you can attend a show for free during your birthday month. The promo excludes special screenings like Halloween, Easter, or Valentine’ Day.

In Africa, the conversations around freedom is arguably more intense than many parts of the world.  Don’t get me wrong, I am not stating that everything is rosy in other parts of the world because keywords like ‘Edward Snowden’ and ‘North Korea’ strike imagery that is far from what many would consider as ‘freedom’.
