Bullets defuse four Red’s bombs: TNM Super League

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC have opened a three and two point gap over Silver and Wanderers FC respectively to be at the TNM Superleague summit after defusing Red Lions 4-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.

The home team enjoyed the game in both halves despite the soldiers showing some glimpse here and there.

Bullets could have scored dozens of goals but thanks to the Soldiers defense that showed some resilience.

The people’s team wasted a lot of scoring chances in both two stanzas of the match.

Bullets were puzzled with three disallowed goals on offside but managed to bang 4 courtesy of Lanjesi Nkhoma who now lead the top goal scorers chart with 7 goals.

Other Bullets FC goals came from Stanley Billiat, Anthony Mfune and Precious Sambani.

Kenyan defender Clyde Senaji was voted man of the match after the tussle.

The visitors had their chances through defender James Mwetse and Davie Major but were all smartly rejected by Richard Chimbamba.

The soldiers kept pushing for goals but they lacked marksmanship and failed to locate the Palestinians who had already disconnected TNM internet from the area to easily accomplish the mission.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC will be on the road this coming weekend to the northern region district Karonga to battle it with Chitipa United FC who defeated their crosstown rivals Mighty Wanderers FC on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

In another fascinating match played at Bingu national stadium in the capital Lilongwe, Silver Strikers FC defeated the rookies Bangwe All Stars 4-1 courtesy of Stain Davie’ hat trick and Patrick Macheso as Chikumbutso Salima scored for Bangwe from a spot.

Stain Davie was a hero for Silver Strikers FC for banging a hat trick and an assist to Patrick Macheso no wonder he was voted man of the match. Chimwemwe Idana provided three assists to Stain Davie.

Bangwe All Stars lacked experience to withstand the heat from the angry Bankers who had dropped points in two previous games.

At Civo Stadium, Civil service United FC moved to 7th on the ladder after defeating Soldiers Kamuzu Barracks FC 1-0 scored by Binwell Katinji who was also voted man of the match.

In Mzuzu, Blue Eagles FC conceded in the dying minutes to surrender their narrow lead over Moyale Barracks FC and the match ended 1-1.

Tonny Viyuyi scored for the Policemen at 71st minute while veteran Gastin Simkonda equalized for the home team and McDonald Harawa won the man of the match award.

There was another 1-1 stalemate at Dedza Stadium between Dedza Dynamos FC and Mighty Tigers FC, Clement Nyondo scored for the host and banged the man of the match accolade.

The former Rumphi United FC attacker Trouble Kajani scored for Tigers three minutes into the second half.

The Kau-Kau boys return to the South with 2 points collected from Silver and Dedza game.

Bullets have collected 17 points on position 1, Silver Strikers FC are second with 15, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC are third with 14 points with the Crocodiles of Karonga, Karonga United FC occupying position 4 with 10 points from the same number of games played 7.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-It was a fantastic Sunday afternoon for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC as they shined by outplaying their long time Blantyre City rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC at the Bingu National Stadium, in Lilongwe.

Bullets FC defeated Wanderers FC 2-1 courtesy of Maxwell Gasten at 10th minute in the first half after a defensive lapse from Nomads inside the penalty box.

The new Bullets’ catch Clyde Senaji firstly hit the post from Mwaungulu’s cross but Gasten was very quick to take the rebound.

Stanley Biliat who came from the bench, scored the second at 71st minute in the second half with another tap from another defensive blunder by Nomads’ Lawrence Chaziya who lost the ball to Anthony Mfune in the left-flank of the field.

Wanderers FC scored from substitute Misheck Botoman at 77th minute after poor communication amongst Bullets’ players inside the box.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC have now won the Charity Shield for the 6th time since 2016.

They have this far defeated Silver Strikers FC twice, Kamuzu Barracks FC and Wanderers FC in all the six games.

After the match Kalisto Pasuwa hailed his boys for the beautiful play against their rivals Mighty Wanderers FC.

“I am proud of the boys, they played with patience, making beautiful build ups from the back up to the forward. If the my boys keep on playing this type of football, we may have hopes of going far.

“Thumbs up to supporters who turned up in large numbers to support us. With the few days to go into the start of 2023 season. We have to work with concentration especially in the second half”, said Pasuwa.

Mark Harrison who defeated Pasuwa in the Airtel Top 8 final through post match penalties in December last year, said the team is always second on everything in the first half hence conceding that early goal.

He added that in the second half they pushed to equalize but they failed acknowledging the standard of play by his boys.

The match in which Bullets FC dominated with the featuring of Mike Mkwate, Lanjesi Nkhoma and Maxwell Gasten was a curtain- raiser for the 2023 season of Malawi elite league slated to kick off on 15th April.

The gate revenue realized from the game will be channelled to Cyclone Freddy survivors in the Southern Region.

Is it Bullets or Flames? Pasuwa to decide

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Zimbabwean coach Callisto Pasuwa must decide whether to remain at Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club or leave it temporarily to be with the Malawi National Football Team.

This follows a decision by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to hire him as a caretaker coach to prepare The Flames for the COSAFA tournament next month and the remaining formality 2024 Afcon qualifying games against Guinea and Ethiopia.

The decision which has been made after parting ways with Romanian Mario Marian Marinica also includes Alex Ngwira and Patrick Mabedi as assistants to Pasuwa.

An official from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Albert Chigoga, told the local media that Pasuwa has a choice to make and the club will not dictate on what he should do.

“We will wait for his decision but as a club we would want him to work with our players at the club in preparation for the forth coming football season. He is quite aware of what is contained in his contract and the choice is all his,” said Chigoga.

Pasuwa successfully guided Bullets as TNM Super League champions four times.

In a related development, Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East, Sameer Suleman, has proposed that the Malawi National Football Team should take a two year break from international football in order to rebuild and in the process save Malawians from embarrassment and hypertension.

Suleman who also worked at FAM made the proposal on Monday in parliament during question time to the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is headed by Minister Uchizi Mkandawire.

He said the break will provide ample time for Malawi as a country to assemble and develop a strong team that can compete favourably at the international stage.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Nyasa Big Bullets FC continue to be the richest club in terms of claiming domestic league titles as they have been crowned champions of the 2022 TNM Super League season with two games to wind the Malawi’s football season.

The Peoples team have set another record winning it in four successive seasons and this is their 16th league title.

Bullets FC just missed two TNM Super League titles to rivals Mighty Wanderers FC and Kamuzu Barracks FC in 2016 and 2017 seasons since 2014.

The team also holds another record which is yet to be broken by any other team in the country of winning the league 7 times in a row years back.

Youthful attacker Lanjesi Nkhoma netted a brace at 20th and 49th minute and defender Gomezgani Chirwa scored at 30th minute to make sure Kalisto Pasuwa’s side smile as they send MK25 million into their TNM mpamba account.

Lloyd Njaliwa scored a consolation goal for the Soldiers at 56th minute.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC needed just a point going into Saturday’s game as they were to reach 65 points which their title contenders Blue Eagles FC will get after playing 30 games.

However, the Peoples team made it possible to end the season in a stylish way by defeating the Lions of Kaning’ina.

The team has 67 points from 28 games and two games to finish the season. They have opened a 8 point gap over Blue Eagles FC who have 59 points from 28 games on second position.

After the game Moyale Barracks FC coach, Pritchard Mwansa, praised his charges for the beautiful display.

He added they had a mixed fortunes in the 2022 season.

Mwansa vowed to go back to the drawing board and come hard in the forthcoming football season.

His counterpart Kalisto Pasuwa who continues dominating the local league since his arrival from Zimbabwe to Bullets FC said their secret for winning the league dwelled much on planning.

“If you plan well you win the games,as Bullets FC we played a lot of games hence we have been rotating the players which has paid dividend”,

“I revamped the team by bringing in the young ones. This was what top management wanted and after that slowly pressure started mounting. They jelled quickly and contained it. We have to trust these young ones in the next season”, Pasuwa joyfully said.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC are also the champions of the prestigious MK90 million FDH Bank Cup Pachema.

They grabbed it after defeating their feeder team Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve FC weeks ago in Blantyre.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—One of Malawi’s renown football team, Big Bullets, popularly known the Peoples Team, has lost its K500 million (about $728 000) sponsorship deal with a cigarette manufacturing company Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC)

The NMC had committed itself to sponsor the team for five years, however due to a spate of never-ending internal squabbles within the team’s executive committee, left the sponsor with no other option but to withdraw its funds from the Big Bullets team.

Announcing the bad news to Malawi football fans on Monday, the sponsors told journalists at a news conference that they are suspending their sponsorship deal following the confusion in the Big Bullets.

Recent upheavals have  caused mass resignations members of the board of Trustees.

The first to resign was board chairperson James Busile who was followed by Gregory Madeya before the others, including vice-chairperson Fred Kwacha, secretary Jim Kalua, the club’s finance and administration chairperson Fleetwood Haiya, who is NMC finance director, also followed suit.

“We have decided that our sponsorship should be suspended,” Nyasa boss Konrad Buckle told the news conference.

The development comes at a time Big Bullets traditional rivals, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers are enjoying financial support from Japanese car dealer, Be Forward.

Big Bullets, who command the biggest fan base in Malawi, had been without sponsorship for nine years since former president Bakili Muluzi sponsored them for two years; and then Nyasa rescued them…

Most of the 16 football teams in Malawi’s Super League are struggling financially.

MZUZU (Maravi Post)—Its Christmas in June for Karonga United FC as they have registered their first ever win in the TNM Super League after sensationally beating the defending Champions Nyasa Bullets in a game which was fairly patronized at the Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday.

The brilliant rocket launched by Karonga United FC striker Mwenepeka from a free kick separated men from boys today as Big Bullets goal keeper Ernest Kakhobwe couldn’t help but to collect the ball, which was almost traveling at the speed of light, from the net.

Big Bullets senior official Billy Tewesa was quick to apologize to the millions of Bullets supporters in the country for the shameful loss.

He attributed the loss due to poor officiating saying the referee had let them down.

“We apologize for the loss but we promise to revenge when they come at our own backyard,” said Tewesa.

Karonga United FC Coach Kondwani Mwalwuni was over the moon.

“We have found the winning formula—we are building a team and we will continue doing so. We promised fans that we will deliver the first ever three points today,” said the coach.

Elsewhere, Mzuzu University FC had a nice journey in Malawi’s central region as they are returning back home with four points from a possible 6 points. They drew with giants Blue Eagles FC on Saturday before invading Chitowe stadium on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Dwangwa United FC.
