LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-It was a fantastic Sunday afternoon for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC as they shined by outplaying their long time Blantyre City rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC at the Bingu National Stadium, in Lilongwe.

Bullets FC defeated Wanderers FC 2-1 courtesy of Maxwell Gasten at 10th minute in the first half after a defensive lapse from Nomads inside the penalty box.

The new Bullets’ catch Clyde Senaji firstly hit the post from Mwaungulu’s cross but Gasten was very quick to take the rebound.

Stanley Biliat who came from the bench, scored the second at 71st minute in the second half with another tap from another defensive blunder by Nomads’ Lawrence Chaziya who lost the ball to Anthony Mfune in the left-flank of the field.

Wanderers FC scored from substitute Misheck Botoman at 77th minute after poor communication amongst Bullets’ players inside the box.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC have now won the Charity Shield for the 6th time since 2016.

They have this far defeated Silver Strikers FC twice, Kamuzu Barracks FC and Wanderers FC in all the six games.

After the match Kalisto Pasuwa hailed his boys for the beautiful play against their rivals Mighty Wanderers FC.

“I am proud of the boys, they played with patience, making beautiful build ups from the back up to the forward. If the my boys keep on playing this type of football, we may have hopes of going far.

“Thumbs up to supporters who turned up in large numbers to support us. With the few days to go into the start of 2023 season. We have to work with concentration especially in the second half”, said Pasuwa.

Mark Harrison who defeated Pasuwa in the Airtel Top 8 final through post match penalties in December last year, said the team is always second on everything in the first half hence conceding that early goal.

He added that in the second half they pushed to equalize but they failed acknowledging the standard of play by his boys.

The match in which Bullets FC dominated with the featuring of Mike Mkwate, Lanjesi Nkhoma and Maxwell Gasten was a curtain- raiser for the 2023 season of Malawi elite league slated to kick off on 15th April.

The gate revenue realized from the game will be channelled to Cyclone Freddy survivors in the Southern Region.
