Malawi VP Chimulirenji launches take over bid

Malawi VP Chimulirenji

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Vice President Everton Chimulirenji has engaged an extra gear in his bid to take over the reigns of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) by assembling a strong team to help him in his bid.

We can reveal that First Lady Gertrude Mutharika and President Mutharika’s trusted security aide Norman Paulos Chisale confided in Chimulirenji that President Mutharika is not interested in running again if the Constitutional Court orders fresh elections by next month.

The two told Chimulirenji to start preparing to take over as Mutharika will not run again due to his health and old age where he is even struggling to walk properly.

Chimulirenji has not wasted time after receiving the timely information and has assembled a team of DPP top leaders to start drafting his campaign strategy for a take over bid.

He met the team on New Years Day at his official Area 12 Residence in Lilongwe. The meeting was disguised as a New Year’s interaction.

Among the attendees were DPP district governors from the Central Region.

The meeting was funded by his office as well as First Lady Gertrude Mutharika and Mutharika’s trusted security aide Norman Chisale.

In apparent reference to Mulhako wa Alhomwe, Chimulirenji told the meeting that “time has come for the cultural grouping to be taught a lesson that it doesn’t influence politics of DPP.”

Apart from Central Region district governors, other senior DPP officials that attended the meeting are National Director of Operations Mwai Kamuyambeni, NGC member Dr Hetherwick Ntaba, DPP Vice President for the Central Region Uladi Mussa, National Director of Youth Hon Dyton Mussa and DPP CEO Grelzedar Jeffrey.

Chimulirenji, who is also National Campaign Director for DPP, lost parliamentary elections in last year’s polls.

There are deep divisions in DPP after Mutharika’s stand of not running again in case of a rerun.

Media crucial in disaster risk management- Malawi VP Chimulirenji

Malawi government recognises the crucial role the media plays in creating and disseminating information on disaster and climate risk management at all levels.

Vice-President, Everton Chimulirenji on Friday in Salima made the remarks when he opened a two-day disaster risk management workshop for news reporters and editors organised by the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).

Chimulirenji, who is also Minister responsible for DoDMA observed that the media is an important vehicle in shaping dialogue in the country, particularly in promoting practices that build resilience, not those that increase vulnerability.

“Let me commend several media houses in the country that are making efforts to ensure that we build a resilient nation. People should be informed not just about disaster occurrence, but how they can prevent, mitigate, prepare, respond and recover from these disasters.

“There is a lot that, together, we can do to promote the spirit of safety and resilience,” he said.

The Vice-President said Malawi being a disaster-prone country, there is need for the country’s people to be well informed on issues of disaster, hence the need to engage the media in such issues.

“As government, we take issues of disaster risk management seriously and believe that a knowledgeable media is an important vehicle in building a resilient nation.

“That is why we are here today to orient you on such issues,” said Chimulirenji.

He then called for a multi-sectoral approach on issues of disasters which he described as a major threat to development.

“We hope to achieve a paradigm shift from a reactive approach to proactive approach by ensuring that disaster risks are timely addressed. However, achieving this requires concerted effort.

“We believe that a multisectoral and multi-agency approach, where communities at risk fully participate in decisions on issues affecting them is the best way we can improve our resilience and response to disasters.

“If we leave no one behind as we build resilience, we will be able to achieve our aspirations.”Chimulirenji said.

The VP on this point said it was the hope of government that the orientation would, among other things, ensure that proper dissemination of information helps to ensure those living and/or working in disaster prone areas are informed about the risks and made aware of the measures of managing the situation.

Speaking earlier, Minister of Information, Civic Education and Communication Technology, Mark Botomani said a well informed and knowledgeable nation on disaster risk reduction can accelerate socio-economic growth and development.

Botomani said this can only be achieved when the media and all disaster risk management stakeholders play an active role in efforts aimed at reducing disaster risks.

The minister then urged the participants to take the training seriously, saying it was important as it would enable them to write from an informed view.

Participants from the training were drawn from different media houses across the country.

“The organisation is making a huge impact in the lives of less privileged by providing for their needs. This is in line with government programmes such as social cash transfer which are also aimed at transforming people’s livelihoods,” he said.

Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, Mary Navicha disclosed that the country has 1.8 million orphaned and vulnerable children.

She said there is need to develop innovative ways of supporting them.

Navicha said apart from the social cash transfer program, government also introduced bursaries to ensure that vulnerable children are not forced out of school due to poverty.

He said the organisation is interested in supporting children to help them become productive citizens who can contribute positively to national development.

He also disclosed the organisation’s plans to construct a hospital in the country that would specialise in heart problems, cancer and diabetes.

El Saadi then donated MK1 billion to benefit orphaned and vulnerable children and MK100 million to the office of the Vice President for humanitarian assistance to people affected by disasters.

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The campaign to replace Malawi President Peter Mutharika who leaves office in 2024 has reached deadly levels as a murder plot has been uncovered for Vice President Everton Chimulirenji.

State authorities have not taken lightly the discovery of these murderous plans as they have now reviewed and beefed up the security system and detail of Vice President Everton Chimulirenji.

The life of the Malawi Vice President Chimulirenji is said to be under serious threat as political rivals are baying for his blood.

The rivals led by a senior politician in the ruling party are said to have advanced plans to have Everton Chimulirenji assassinated the soonest time possible.

According to a front page story in today’s Malawi News, security detail of the country’s second in command has been beefed up in order to foil the plot.

Spokesperson in the Office of the Vice President Charles Wahara is quoted by the newspaper as having confirmed the security enhancement on the Vice President.

However, sources in government intelligence and security systems indicate that the plot to assassinate the state Vice President has been hatched and being sponsored by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South, Kondwani Nankhumwa.

According to sources, it is believed the planned plot on Chimulirenji is political fearing he stands a better chance to replace President Mutharika when he retires in 2024 coupled by the fact that the two seem to be getting along very well and that being current Vice President he stands a better opportunity more than anyone else in the party.

Sources say Kondwani Nankhumwa who doubles as the country’s Agriculture Minister is too ambitious very much interested to replace Mutharika in 2024 and has allegedly hired assassins to deal with Chimulirenji once and for all to pave way for easy competition for himself.

Nankhumwa, has in recent months been using some members of the media on formal and social media to prop himself into Mutharika’s chosen successor.

Using his paid up security men most of which are build-up men from Blantyre ‘the Ichochos’, Nankhumwa has been seen at some public events and political rallies behaving like the country’s President or Vice.

On Presidential rallies, soon after the President departs, Nankhumwa is seen to be surrounded by many of his private security.

The idea is to have the men appear like state security that surround the vehicle of the President or indeed Vice President of the country when arriving or departing public events.

At some of his public rallies, Nankhumwa is reported to have used a red carpet just like the way state protocol handles President of the country or his Vice.

According to sources in the DPP, Nankhumwa is seeing Chimulirenji as the the only stumbling block that my frustrate all his dreams and efforts to replace Mutharika when he quits office in 2024 hence this murder plot.

Apart from Chimulirenji himself, those reported repositioning themselves to replace Mutharika include; Kondwani Nankhumwa, Finance Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha and Justice Minister and Vice President for the Eastern Region Bright Msaka.

Everton Chimulirenji was a surprise package to many Malawians and the party’s rank and file when President Mutharika announced he had picked him as his running mate ahead of the other well known senior members of the party months before Malawians went into polls in May this year.

Malawi VP Chimulirenji fires security aid Nsopela for indiscipline

Nsopela fired for indiscipline

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In a bid to bring sanity in the Malawi Vice President office Everton Chimulirenji has fired one of his security aid Austin Nsopela for indiscipline.

Nsopela who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) loyalist has also been involved into land syndicate in Blantyre.

According to the VP’s office inside sources reveals that there is enormous and well deserved concerns against fraudulent land sales and change of ownership, be it private or public properties.

Some quarters of the society have made up their mind to sale the whole country to Asians and Chinese people by using their political affiliations, influence and connections.

It has been found Nsopela is conniving with Killian Remmie Palika, who is Lands Commissioner which did not go well with VP office.

Sources hold the Maravi Post that a family based in Blantyre had a land in Mapanga plot #78.

They have been using the land for more than 20 years. And in 2015, the oldest son applied for a lease and till to date.

Surprisingly, Nsopela was entangled in these illegal deals when he was already fired by the VP office on September 30, 2019.

Sources added that he was just using his veep’s name to instill fear and to threaten people.

This is what is happening; some ill advised cadets are using the name of President Peter Mutharika, to do their corrupt activities or their in agreement with Muthalika?

“Strangely, Nsopela went to their house in disguise as an official from the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development and met the mother (who is in her 60’s) he questioned her “who owns the land?”And she replied “it’s ours and we have been farming therefore quite some time”.

“The man went back, after few weeks he came back and informed the family to stop farming or any activities as the land has now been allocated to him. He later got an injunction from a certain court stopping the family’s activities on the plot. The son went to lands and inquire but to no avail. Through other connections, the son learnt the man is well connected and he is in cohort with the land commissioner,” exposed document, in our possession of Nsopela illegal deals.

will draw K5.4 billion of our money  by 2024 elections

Chimulirenji gets MK100 million taxpayers money for ‘urgent activities’

By Nenenji Mlangeni

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Under instructions from President Peter Mutharika’s wife, Vice President Everton Chimulirenji has kicked off his campaign to be Malawi’s next leader in 2024 by collecting K100 million of tax payers money for ‘urgent activities’.

We can reveal that Mrs. Gertrude Mutharika told Chimulirenji to get the money from tax payers and attend various function to ‘increase visibility’ to the voters.

A leaked letter from Wilson Moleni, Secretary to the Vice President and Commissioner for Disaster Management Affairs dated 6th November 2019, Chimulirenji will use the K100 million in the month of November alone.

“I would like to inform you that His Honour the Vice President will attend a number of public functions this month of November, 2019. In view of this I would like to seek authority to transfer K100,000,000 from the office of the Vice President (Headquarters) from IFMIS to FDH Bank account number 1970000056278 to cater for urgent expenses,” reads the letter in part.

This means that our beloved Vice President will be using K139,000 per hour that is including the time he is sleeping with his lovely wife Judith or K3.5 million per day!

Chimulirenji will have used K5.4 billion of tax payer’s money by the time the country will be going to the polls in May 2024.

Insiders said Mrs. Mutharika and ‘President’ Norman Paulos Chisale are the ones who ordered Chimulirenji to get the tax payers money to boost his visibility ahead of the 2024 polls or any other polls that may be held soon, subject to a Constitutional court elections case ruling.

“This is a strategy that Mrs. Mutharika and Chisale have hatched; they do not need to use their own money when there is ‘free’ money from government. Chimulirenji will be on the road almost every day attending any available functions so that he is ‘known’ to the people especially those in the villages,” said the source close to the plot.

Chimulirenji starts ‘eating’ the K100 million with a function on Friday 15th November 2019 when he presides over the handover ceremony of teaching and learning materials donated by the United Nations Educational Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to schools that were affected by the March 2019 floods at Chikuli LEA School, Mdyanyama Village in traditional Authority Ntchema in Chiradzulu district, according to a statement released by his office.

“You can see that even this function, a District Commissioner or let alone an Administration officer in his office could have done it but the issue is about visibility, they need people in the rural areas in Chiradzulu should see who Chimulirenji is and recognize his face when it is on the ballot paper,” said the source.

“There are many more functions and mostly will be strategic and in rural areas,” he added.
