NKHOTAKOTA-(MaraviPost)-The Nkhotakota First Grade Magistrate Court, this week sentence and convicted a 44-year old witchdoctor to 12 years in prison, with hard labor for defiling a 14-year old girl. The girl was his “patient.”

Nkhotakota Deputy Police Station Spokesperson Paul Malimwe, identified the convict as Chisoni Kachingwe; he committed the crime on June 25, this year.

According to Malimwe, the Court heard that the convict went to the victim’s home to administer the herbs to the girl.

The witchdoctor visit followed an approach by the girl’s parent after she developed eye, and hearing problems that needed his herbs.

The police publicist said on the fateful day, the victim was alone at home and that the girl gave Kachingwe a room where he wanted to perform magic on her ailments.

The convict coaxed the girl and took her to a nearby bush where, while in the act a passerby noticed the heinous act, but Kachingwe fled away. He was, however, arrested on the following day.

“During the trial, Kachingwe pleaded not guilty to charges, which prompted the State to parade three witnesses against him. Consequently, Magistrate Fred Chilowetsa slapped him to 12 years with hard labour to deter would-be offenders from commuting similar offenses,” said Malimwe.

The convict Kachingwe hails from Jinga village, Traditional Authority (T.A.) Kanyenda in Nkhotakota district.
