Ray J Hospitalized With Severe Pneumonia, Heart Pain in Las Vegas: Report

Ray J is reportedly being treated at a Las Vegas hospital for a severe case of pneumonia.

Ray J, 44, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, January 6, with pneumonia and heart pains, TMZ reported on Wednesday, January 7, citing a “source close to the R&B singer.”

According to the outlet, Ray J previously suffered from the illness — which affects the lungs and can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection, according to the Mayo Clinic — in 2021 and “thought he could die.”

Us Weekly has reached out to Ray J’s team for comment.

Ray J Accused of Owing 6-Figure Debt Before Arrest, Incident With Ex Princess

A few weeks prior to his hospitalization, Ray J shared an unusual update via Instagram, revealing that he’s part of a new show called Celebrity Hitchhiker

“I’m hitchhiking right now to try to get a place to stay tonight,” he wrote in his December 13 message. “Hopefully I can meet a new family, and it can take me in and teach me about their rules and their goals and life, and then send me on my way to the next destination.”

Ray J had filmed the video in Tampa, Florida, and said that he wanted to make it to Los Angeles in time for Christmas. At the time, he was by himself.

“I need some food and I need shelter,” he told his followers. “Just a lot of s*** that’s happened. And I just wanna get back home and see my kids. It’s a hitchhiking show, but it’s real though at the same time, and I wanna make it really authentic. I just do it for real on my phone. I mean, I have a camera in there too, but it’s just me.”

Ray J’s Ups and Downs Through the Years: Arrests, Music, Sex Tapes and More

The singer, whose real name is William Ray Norwood, Jr., was arrested on Thanksgiving Day of last year for making threats to his estranged wife, Princess Love. He did an Instagram Live that day, saying that he had “the worst Thanksgiving in the f***ing world.”

In his Live, he appeared to pull a gun on Love, 41,  and at least one of their children.

“Y’all wanna drive drunk? Y’all wanna drive drunk? Drive drunk. Drive drunk, Princess,” he said, to which Love replied, “Ray, you just pointed a gun— .”

She then called him “a woman abuser.”

Brandy and Ray J’s Mom Sonja Backs Up Son in Kim Kardashian Court Fight

Ray J was released from jail on the day of his arrest, TMZ reported at the time. (Us reached out to his representatives for comment. He has since claimed that he nearly got into a fight with a fellow inmate while behind bars.)

Ray J and Love filmed the early years of their marriage for the VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. They tied the knot in 2016 and have filed for divorce multiple times. They share daughter Melody Love, 7, and son Epik Ray, 6.

Days prior to the incident involving Love, American Express sued Ray J and his company Tronix Network in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing him of owing a massive credit card debt — $139,849.85, to be exact. He allegedly stopped making payments in May 2025. Ray J has yet to respond to the lawsuit.

2025 State of RegTech in Sub-Saharan Africa Report Launched, Highlights Surge in Supervisory Technology and Financial Inclusion

LAGOS, Nigeria, 11 December 2025-/African Media Agency (AMA)/-RegTech Africa today formally announces the publication of the 2024 State of RegTech in Sub-Saharan Africa Report, a comprehensive, data-driven industry report examining the rapid evolution of regulatory innovation across Africa’s financial ecosystem. The report provides strategic insights into the growth of RegTech and SupTech, regulatory innovation, financial inclusion, and the critical role of technology in strengthening consumer protection across emerging and complex markets.

The report positions Sub-Saharan Africa as one of the most dynamic frontiers for regulatory technology, driven by the expansion of FinTech, mobile money, cross-border payments, and real-time digital supervision. It highlights how regulators and financial institutions are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence, machine-readable regulation, and cloud-based architectures to manage risk while expanding access to formal financial services.

Cyril Okoroigwe, Chief Executive Officer, RegTech Africa, said:

“This report marks a defining moment for Africa’s regulatory and digital finance ecosystem. RegTech is no longer a back-office function, it is now core infrastructure for trust, stability, and inclusive growth. The report captures how African regulators and market participants are moving from reactive compliance to proactive, technology-driven supervision.”

The publication also underscores the growing adoption of Supervisory Technology (SupTech) by central banks and financial authorities, signaling a structural shift towards real-time, data-driven oversight across the continent.

Commenting on the broader implications of the report, Dr. Tunde Ibidapo-Obe, CEO, Regfyl, stated:

“The findings of this report clearly demonstrate that Africa is shaping a uniquely innovative model of digital regulation. The convergence of RegTech and SupTech is enabling safer markets, stronger consumer protection, and scalable financial inclusion that other regions are increasingly studying and learning from.”

The 2024 State of RegTech in Sub-Saharan Africa Report serves as a strategic benchmark for policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, FinTech leaders, investors, and development partners seeking to understand the next phase of digital financial infrastructure in Africa.

‘Bachelor’ Alum Shayne Lamas’ Monthly Support From Ex Nik Richie Being Cut

The Bachelor alum Shayne Lamas’ massive monthly support checks from her ex-husband, Nik Richie, are being drastically reduced, Us Weekly can exclusively report.

On October 3, Richie, 46, filed court documents revealing he reached a deal with Lamas, 40, over support.

Per the 2023 divorce settlement, Richie agreed to pay Lamas $12,500 a month in support. The breakdown was $7,500 per month in spousal support and another $5,000 in child support. (The exes wed on April 18, 2010, and split on April 20, 2021, after 11 years of marriage.

Richie and Lamas agreed to share joint legal and physical custody of their two children: Press, 13, and Lyon, 10.

In the new filing, Richie said he will now pay Lamas $4,200 per month in spousal support but his final payment will be on June 5, 2026.

DeAnna Pappas’ Ex No Longer Has to Pay Child Support as He Works for Uber

Richie, represented by Richard Sullivan from the firm Sullivan Law and Associates, will continue to pay Lamas the $5,000 per month, $2,500 per kid, in child support until they reach 18.

A source close to Shayne told Us that Nik owed a low six-figure sum in back support, and she agreed to wipe it clean, and reduce his monthly support obligations, to help out her children’s father.

In response, Nik told Us, “I hired Richard Sullivan to modify my agreement because I was tired of Shayne Lamas living off me. I have given her millions and I was still on the hook for another five million over her lifetime. Now, I’m excited for her to get a job. And extremely happy with the result, it’s good business.”

Lamas filed for divorce on June 9, 2021, in Orange County Superior Court. Both parties agreed that “irreconcilable differences” have led to the marriage being unsaveable.

In a 2021 income and expense declaration, Lamas said she was not employed and had worked as a stay-at-home mom for the past 10 years. She said she believed Richie earned a six-figure per month salary.

Lamas listed that she had $5,616 in cash and bank accounts. She said her monthly expenses totaled $28,000. Her monthly bills included $4,800 on rent, $900 on healthcare costs, $2,000 on groceries, $1,300 on eating out, $500 on utilities, $150 for a cell phone, $500 on laundry and cleaning, $3,000 on clothes, $3,500 on entertainment, $1,500 on auto expenses, $500 on savings and investments and $8,940 on other payments. The other payments included five credit card bills and a car loan.

She said she sold a Rolex to pay her legal fees in the divorce. Shayne described enjoying a luxurious lifestyle while married to Richie.

Inside Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo’s Finances Amid Divorce

Richie disputed the numbers presented by Lamas in court. He also scoffed at the claim she sold her Rolex to pay legal bills.

“Unless Shayne has another Rolex that I do not know about, I saw her with the Rolex watch just this last time that we had our children’s exchange point. I do not know what Rolex watch she sold in order to pay her attorney’s fees.”

The exes ended up reaching their settlement in 2023.

Everything the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast Has Shared About Their Salaries

Lamas, whose father is actor Lorenzo Lamas, became a household name herself after appearing on season 12 of The Bachelor.

The season, which aired in 2008, featured a British man named Matt Grant as the star. Grant proposed to a then 22-year-old Lamas but the relationship ended months later.

For his part, OK Magazine reported Richie proposed to his girlfriend and lifestyle creator, Whitney Duden, on October 21 while on a vacation in Santorini.

Senate Shutdown Breakthrough, SNAP Legal Battle, COP30 Climate Summit Starts

Senate Democrats break ranks to join Republicans in backing a deal to reopen the government after 41 days, a move that could finally end the longest shutdown in U.S. history. SNAP benefits remain tangled in court battles, as a late ruling orders the Trump administration to fully restore payments while states face threats of federal penalties. And world leaders gather in Brazil for a major climate conference, but the Trump administration says the U.S. won’t be at the table.

Africa Fintech Summit Accra 2025 welcomes MDP as a sponsor

ACCRA, Ghana, 26th September 2025/African Media Agency/-The Africa Fintech Summit is pleased to welcome back MDP, a long-time AFTS partner and a leading card issuing and payments technology provider across the Middle East and Africa, as sponsor for the 14th edition of Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) 2025, to be held at the Accra international Conference Center (AICC) in Accra, Ghana, from October 8 to 10, 2025

This sponsorship comes as MDP continues to enhance its capabilities to deliver next-level payment solutions to banks, fintechs, and telcos across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. Already, the 30-year-old payments enabler currently serves over 260 financial institutions across 40 countries and has produced over 340 million cards. However, it’s not resting on its oars as it continues to work hard to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure end-to-end payment (issuing, acquiring and digital) services to its clients with greater agility.

The partnership with the Africa Fintech Summit supports the company’s expansion plans, as it continues to deepen its roots in Africa. For instance, last year saw it open a regional office in Ghana, while extending its payment processing services to Kenya and Libya. This ambitious streak and the company’s extensive impact were among the reasons it made it into the top 20 on Forbes’ list of the Top 50 Fintechs in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

“Our presence in Ghana reflects MDP’s long-term commitment to supporting financial institutions and fintechs across West Africa with proven, reliable payment infrastructure. With decades of experience enabling payments in both mature and emerging markets, we understand what it takes to deliver solutions that work in local contexts. Events like the Africa Fintech Summit allow us to engage directly with banks, fintechs, and regulators who are looking not just for technology, but for a partner they can trust to deliver efficiently and at scale,” said Emmanuel Sarpong-Oduro, Managing Director, MDP Ghana.

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire, 12 September, 2025 /African Media Agency (AMA)/ – Djamo Finances, a subsidiary of the Djamo group and a pioneering digital financial services platform in Francophone Africa, has officially obtained its license as a microfinance institution in Côte d’Ivoire, issued by the Ministry of Finance and Budget.

This regulatory recognition provides Djamo’s clients with an additional guarantee. The company’s governance has also been strengthened to better support and serve the financial needs of its growing customer base.

“Obtaining this license is a key milestone in our mission. It gives us the tools to reinforce customer trust and to become their primary financial partner in managing their daily finances, with regulated and guaranteed services designed to meet local economic realities. Thanks to our digital model, these microfinance services will now be within reach, anywhere, at any time, directly from a smartphone,” said Elfried Didehia, CEO of Djamo Finances.

With this license, Djamo will offer its clients new solutions such as access to credit, interest-bearing savings, and current accounts without limits. These new offerings build on an already strong suite of services that includes salary reception, payments and transfers, budget management, secure savings vaults, and investment. Djamo aims to become the primary financial partner for its clients, providing them with the full range of services they need to manage their finances. For users, this evolution means more simplicity, more security, and more opportunities.

In recent years, Côte d’Ivoire has recorded significant progress in financial inclusion: according to the World Bank, the rate has risen from 41% in 2017 to 58% in 2024. While more people now have access to bank accounts, access to credit and savings remains limited. Djamo’s license is part of this dynamic, enabling millions of people to access credit and savings services, paving the way for more comprehensive and sustainable financial inclusion.

Beyond Côte d’Ivoire, this license reflects Djamo’s Pan-African strategy to build a solid digital financial institution capable of supporting millions of people in their financial journey. Also present in Senegal, where it operates with its digital payment and transfer services, Djamo serves today more than one million users with a seamless, innovative, and 100% digital experience. Building on this milestone, the company reaffirms its vision of creating an accessible, user-centered financial institution
