Airtel Yabeba’s MK5m Grand Prize goes to Mzuzu’s Mchengautuba casual labour Mafumbo Banda

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Mzuzu’s Mchengautuba casual labor has been emerged as a Airtel Yabeba promotion’s MK5 million grand prize.

During the final draw of the promotion conducted on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in the capital Lilongwe, Mafumbo Banda aged 35 was over the moon when got call from Airtel official informing him of the good news of winning the prize.

She cited Mulanje’s weekly MK1 million winner who went straight to buy food after winning the money and two students who said they will use the money to pay school fees.

Sande further said that the promotion has helped Airtel to engage with its customers.

“As Airtel, we continue to service customers and add more coverage so that more Malawians can be connected. We are always there to make sure that our customers are happy and we engage them,” said Sande.

Licensing Manager for National Lotteries Board Miriam Kumbuyo said the promotion was conducted in a free and fair manner and all people who won have been given their prizes.

“We have checked and we have not found any problem with the promotion,” said Kumbuyo.

Airtel Yabeba promotion was rolled out on May 13, 2021 and it ended on August 15. Over the weeks, 48 customers from 22 districts across the country won MK1 million each. Thousands of customers also won various cash prizes.

Airtel Yabeba promotion attracts 500,000 new customers

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The on going Airtel Yababa promotion which rolled out on May 12, 2021 has managed to attract 500,000 new subscribers into the network.

The company’s Acting Marketing Director Thokozani Sande disclosed the development during the 12th weekly draw of the Promotion on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

“As Airtel we keep on pushing towards connecting more Malawians. In this promotion, we have seen more than 500,000 customers joining our network since we launched,” said Sande.

During this week draw which the last one before the grand finally four again became millionaires after emerged winners with MK1 million each.

The winners including Mzuzu based fish seller Ali Mdala and cross border trader Chifundo Moyenda, Dedza based student Chifundo Gondwe aged 22, at a Teacher Training College and she said she will use the money for school fees and Petros Miliyasi from Ntchisi who does piecework to earn a living.

However, Miliyasi expressed delight at the win, saying he will use some of the money to build a house.

Since the promotion inspection, 48 people from over 22 districts across Malawi have won MK1 million each and 3,000 customers have won MK10,000 each.

KASUNGU-(MaraviPost)-There was tears of joy for Kasungu businessman on Friday, August 5, 2021 when Airtel Malawi presented a MK1 million prize after emerged as one the four lucky the winners in the sixth draw of the promotion.

Solomon Charles from Traditional Authority (T.A) Kawamba told reporters that he was delighted for the money presentation saying he was not expecting to win.

Solomon however noted that people get suspicious when contacted by Airtel due to fear of fraudsters but he never doubted.

“I will invest the money in my business and will also buy cattle,” said Charles who buys and resells groundnuts.

Airtel Acting Marketing Director Thokozani Sande said the promotion is running smoothly as the company has seen new customers coming in adding that have been with the company for a long time have also been participating.

“In December last year we had close to 5 million customers and we now have about 5.5 million customers on our network,” said Sande.

On fraud, she said Airtel only contacts customers using +265121. According to Sande, if customers get a call from a different number telling them about winning a promotion, the customer should know that the caller is not from Airtel.

She added that Airtel acts on reports of fraud by working with the police who investigate and prosecute suspects.

So far Airtel has conducted 11 draws in the Yabeba Promotion which will run up to August 15, 2021.

About MK44 million has been given out to 44 winners remaining with two draws.

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Four Airtel Malawi subscribers are on cloud nine after winning 1 million Kwacha each in the third draw of the ongoing ‘Airtel Yabeba’ promotion held in Blantyre.

The four are Charity Nkhoma from Chiware Village Mchinji, Osman Phiri, Nkhatabay, Finess Katsire from Mpemba in Blantyre and Grace Kutchena from Zomba.

According to Thokozani Sande-Acting Marketing Director for Airtel, it has however been noted that winners are still skeptical when called due to an increase in fraudsters, something she says the company is working hard to address.

To stand a chance of winning cash prizes in the promotion, Airtel Malawi subscribers only need to recharge with at least K200 of airtime in a week.
