THE REVOLUTIONARY PARTY ASSESSMENT OF 100 DAYS OF DPP AND PRESIDENT PETER MUTHARIKA IN OFFICE:
Coming into the government under protest vote, coming in because of national anger over economic misgovernance and political instability of the previous government; DPP and President Peter Mutharika have kept the pace of hope and restoration.
Most of the promises made are slowly being implemented and adhered to.
There is economic and political sanity in the country and voices of tribalism or regionalism are no longer heard.
There are slight issues of nepotism on the appointment of statutory bodies members.
Commodity prices that changed price-tags on daily basis are now at a break.
The most powerful basic need of citizens “Fertilizer distribution” is what is of concern, this cannot be blamed on DPP or President Peter Mutharika but the system.

Malawi is one country where the entire civil service and governance system is stinking rotten.
Perhaps there are two ways, either civil service has been tired seeing and observing political office bearers plundering national resources or the service itself is too corrupt.
This is why ever since the dawn of multiparty dispensation service delivery started deteriorating nationwide.
It is perhaps because of too much freedom or laziness of civil servants as well as political office bearers.
From the 4th of October President Peter Mutharika has been focused in rebuilding lost confidence and hope, he has discharged his duties with resilience realizing the anguish the country is in of the agonies of the past 5 years.
On the rule of law, DPP has not and is not giving the Judiciary its independence because courts are adamant to execute its jurisdiction as per the democratic constitution.
FISP has completely failed as the majority of citizens have not acquired Fertilizer on time or as is expected.
In a country that largely depends on government subsidy in Procurement of Fertilizer 4 to 6 families cannot survive hunger on one 50kg Fertilizer bag.
District Commissioners, Councils, Controlling officers and Traditional Chiefs have compromised the FISP project.
As the season of planting expires many citizens didn’t receive Fertilizer or didn’t find enough.
This is the same with hunger crisis, distribution of Maize to affected areas has met or is meeting similar challenges.
On law governance the country is angry over the government’s decision to pardon convicted murderers of Albino killings, a case that brought DPP and President Peter Mutharika down in 2020.
On the other hand there is too much witch-hunt and vengeance on the part of government against its predecessor government.
However signs of economic recovery are observed though in a snail pace, fuel shortage is slowly improving, forex shortage is improving unfortunately on a black market not in banks.
It seems DPP government admire it’s predecessor market economy of black market.
If the dollar sells K1700 and Rand sells K105 on official rates why has DPP failed to tame the black market rate of K230 to R1 and K4,500 to a US$??
This is worrying and giving doubts of any quick economic recovery.
The Tariff hike on taxes is also worrying as it holds citizens hostage on their day to day lives, instead of basic commodities prices going down the 17.5% tax hike has multiplied prices hikes and therefore impinging lives of citizens particularly poor families in rural areas.
As taxes are imposed, salaries of working class particularly laborers were supposed to be raised too to mitigate living standards of citizens.
The 100 days so far has shown signs of progress than failure.
As a country it is important for Malawians to host an indaba that will seriously look at political patriotism as well as civil service patriotism.
Political and Civil service patriotism have lacked in this country.
The reason is none other than nepotistic appointments, tribal tantrums and greed, these are eggs of corruption.
We need to establish a nation state whose servants, politicians and citizens are patriotic enough.
This country has relied so much on hand-outs from donors and development partners but has failed to move forward on what it has in mineral, tourism and marines resources.
….But when you go to all parts of the country from Nsanje to Mangochi, from Kayerekera to Kasiya, from Balaka to Kangankhunde you will see new mining structures and complexes.
The question must be where are the revenues and benefits of these exploitation going, when our economy lives in ICU and always resuscitated by hand-outs and debts from the international community?
As a country we need and must put partisan politics aside and come together to liberate our nation from both foreign and local exploitation of our future.
Politics has outweighed national development agenda because each and every government from 1994 focuses much on individual pocket-filling and bellies over the country’s development.
Look at our roads and bridges washed away always whenever there is down-pour of heavy rains and storms.
Look at the hunger crisis year in and year out, but billions if not trillions are spent on Fertilizer subsidy procurement.
Why is Malawi still poor and hungry?
Let us look at energy; black-outs and loads heading always! fuel shortages and corruption?
All these need to stop so that we can begin a new path towards prosperity.
We must not be changing governments out of “protest vote” but just change of government for democracy.
The Revolutionary political party of Muvi Wa Chilungamo appeal to President Peter Mutharika and DPP party to do more and fix the errors faced in the first 100 days.
Not bad at all, you have set the pace for greatness. Keep it up, this nation needs and require a complete overhaul.
