BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost )-The University of Malawi (UNIMA) has partnered with seven other African universities, led by Makerere University, to launch the Africa Regional Education Systems Resilience Observatory (ARESRO) project.
Funded by the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX), ARESRO aims to enhance education system resilience in 42 African countries.
In an interview with Maravi Post,UNIMA’s team principal investigator,Dr.Samson MacJessie-Mbewe,said African education systems face diverse challenges, including climate-related disasters, pandemics, and conflicts.
“We are committed to exploring education system resilience, anticipating future challenges, and developing effective strategies to address them,” he said.
He said UNIMA will lead the project implementation in four countries: Malawi, Mozambique, Comoros, and Madagascar.
The project brings together a consortium of African universities, including Addis Ababa University, University of Ghana, University of Zambia, and University of Yaounde, to strengthen education systems and promote sustainable development.
