The 2025 graduation ceremony of the University of Malawi (UNIMA) was a momentous occasion, filled with excitement and anticipation as students from various academic disciplines were conferred with their degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

Among the numerous inspiring messages shared during the ceremony, one of the most poignant came from the Chairperson of the UNIMA Council, Christopher Guta, who emphasized the importance of professionalism and integrity for the newly graduated students.

In his address to the graduates in Zomba, Guta urged the graduands to use their acquired knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to society.

He highlighted that their education should not just be seen as a personal achievement, but also as a tool for societal advancement.

“It is vital that you use your professionalism to uplift the society around you and maintain your integrity in all spheres of life,” he stated.

His call was a reminder to the graduands that with their qualifications comes great responsibility to act ethically and serve their communities with respect and dedication.

One of the notable graduates was Noel Kayira, who earned a PhD in Public Administration.

Kayira, who currently serves as the Police Commissioner for the South East Region, expressed his commitment to upholding the values and reputation of UNIMA in his professional life.

“I assure you that I will preserve the reputation of this institution by being a productive and responsible citizen,” he said, inspiring his fellow graduands to follow suit by contributing positively to their respective fields.

The 2025 UNIMA graduation ceremony saw a total of 2,643 students graduating across various levels of education, with many earning their certificates, diplomas, and degrees in a diverse range of fields.

This significant milestone for the institution marked a moment of pride for both the graduates and their families.

Notably, a commendable 48 percent of the graduates were female, reflecting the university’s ongoing efforts to promote gender equality in higher education.

The event served not only as a celebration of academic achievement but also as a platform to inspire the new graduates to think beyond the classroom and consider their roles in society.

As they embark on their professional journeys, the message of integrity, service, and the importance of making a positive societal impact will resonate deeply with them.

In conclusion, the 2025 graduation ceremony was a reminder that education is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about using that knowledge to make a meaningful difference in the world.

The message from the UNIMA Council Chairperson and the inspiring words from graduates like Noel Kayira left an indelible mark on everyone present, urging the new alumni to always stay true to their values as they move forward in their careers and life paths.
