BEIJING – (MaraviPost)-US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up critical talks, claiming progress in stabilizing US-China relations despite deep differences on issues like Iran, Taiwan, and trade.

The summit aimed to ease tensions, but divergent interpretations of agreements have raised questions about the deal’s substance.

The White House touted trade wins, while Beijing warned against US interference on Taiwan, highlighting the persistent gap between the two nations.

Xi emphasized Taiwan’s importance, stating it poses the biggest risk to US-China relations, while Trump expressed optimism about their relationship.

The leaders discussed Iran, agreeing the Strait of Hormuz must reopen to support global energy demands.

Trump also pushed for China to buy more US agricultural products and Boeing jets, with Xi expressing interest in purchasing US oil.

The summit’s outcome remains uncertain, with both sides publishing different accounts of agreements.

The US highlighted China’s commitment to curb fentanyl precursor exports, while China focused on maintaining stable ties.
