As oil prices have continued to plummet on international markets, Hakainde Hichilema has demanded on behalf of the Zambian people, that the PF government should drop the price of fuel at the pump.
Zambians are suffering and local businesses are struggling so we cannot delay any longer. said HH
A serious reduction in prices has been due for some time but the situation by now has become ridiculous. How can oil prices be at a third of their highs and still we are paying a very high price in Zambia?. Asked HH the man favored to be the next President of Zambia.
High fuel prices are driving up food and transport costs for Zambians across the country. They are also making it harder for local businesses to grow, flourish and create much needed jobs. It also raises the question of how we can hope to export Zambian crops and products across the region when the cost of transporting them is so high.
While campaigning HH has committed to lowering the price of fuel but meantime he has called on government to oversee a reduction immediately so that the pressure can be eased on a number of Zambians who have struggled to meet the rising cost.
Reports in Zambian Media talk about systematic violent attacks especially on UPND supporters in Lusaka by PF thugs calling themselves “PF 100%- Edgar Lungu”.
Media reports say PF cadres attacked a helicopter carrying the UPND campaign team in Shiwangandu. In the helicopter were former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa, former deputy speaker of the national assembly Mutale Nalumango,Hon Felix Mutati, Hon Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, and Hon Patrick Mucheleka.
The helicopter was forced to fly away while Shiwangandu residents who had gathered to attend the rally fled from the attacking PF cadres. Many have condemned the violence and are looking to acting PF President Guy Scott to protect all campaigns.
The violence is from all parties as the UPND was forced to distance its youths from the violence that left four PF thugs at Batoka`s Market seriously wounded.
No UPND cadres participated in the beating of the named PF cadres who were imported from Choma to Batoka for the purpose of causing violence. Our hands are very clean as our mission to Batoka is to speak to the people what the UPND is able to do for them now and for 2016.
We pray for our brothers in Zambia to have a free and fair election without violence.
