About 14 people have been killed and several others wounded by what are believed to be jihadist groups on Sunday during hours of worship in the village of Foutouri, Burkina Faso.
The Islamist rebellious group in Burkina Faso has this year agitated ethnic and religious unrests leading to several attacks on Christians this year. The Sunday attack has come in following another attack on mine workers last month that left 39 people dead.
As reported by Sky News, the president of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kabore has reprimanded the attacks. In this tweet, the president has also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families
“I condemn the barbaric attack against the Protestant Church of Hantoukoura in the department of Foutouri, which left 14 dead and several wounded. I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded,” he wrote.
The gunmen have not yet been identified and meanwhile police have embarked on manhunt to bring the ones behind this to justice.
