BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsanje Lalanje Gladys Ganda has thanked God for a gift of life after surviving an accident that could have cost her life.

Ganda was speaking as Guest of Honour during the farewell of Reverend M Chikaonda of the Assemblies of God who has been transferred from Bangula Section to Manyowe in Blantyre.

The lawmaker further thanked God for the rains and asked the Church to observe the rainfall as it had potential of causing flooding. On this, the MP asked farmers to relocate to upland to avoid loss of lives and crops once the Shire River swells.

On COVID-19 precautionary measures, the legislator reminded the patrons of the Assemblies of God Church to observe the masking, frequent hand washing and social distancing.

Ganda ended her speech by asking the churches in Nsanje Lalanje to pray for the country in order for the current government to achieve what they intend to do.

“Criticising and insulting government will not take us anywhere. Let us unite and support the government of the day. Let God be the best judge.

“If God wants President Chakwera to be a one term President, it will be done and if God wants President Chakwera to be a second term President, it will as well be done. Let God be God,” concluded MP Ganda.

During the event, it was announced that the lawmaker had donated mattresses, One hundred thousand Kwacha cash and other assorted items.

Reverend Chikaonda had been the Pastor for Bangula Section Assemblies of God Church from 2017.

It was reported that during his tenure the church had grown in number of membership and he is leaving a proud Pastor.

The event graced rains from the beginning up to the end. Many Church members and non Church members attended the function in full observation of COVID-19 measures.
