CAPE TOWN-(MaraviPost)-South Africa Police in western Cape arrested a suspect for allegedly murdering six people in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.

Provincial police spokesperson Brig Novela Potelwa confirmed the arrest on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

Potelwa said the arrest comes after two women and four men between the ages of 18 and 27 were fatally gunned down by three gunmen at 4.10pm in Lindela Road on March 20.

TimesLIVE reported that the suspect and his accomplices approached shacks located at the Monwabisi Park informal settlement in Endlovini, Khayelitsha in the early hours of the day of the incident and fired shots.

The killings happened barely a day after the murder of five people in the neighbouring Endlovini informal settlement on March 14.

The 35-year-old suspect has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha magistrate’s court on Monday

Investigations are still ongoing and Police revealed they’re expecting more arrests once they’ve completed the probe.

Gun violence is common in south Africa. Recently, at least 10 people were gunned down during a foiled cash heist in one of the country’s cities, Johannesburg.
