Chakwera Tonse Govt failure to enact older person’s Bill worries MANEPO

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Network of Order Persons Organisation (MANEPO) has blamed President Lazarus Chakwera’s government for being liable over abuse and killings of order people in the country by not prioritising the enactment of the Older Person’s Bill.

This follows a rise in physical abuses against older persons in the country.

Speaking to Maravi Post the officials in the government have not come clear to the public , two years since the bill was passed in the parliament.

Meanwhile the spokesperson in the Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare, Fred Simwaka is yet to comment on the matter referring us Ministry of Justice who were not immediately available for a comment

The Older Person’s Bill, if enacted into the law will protect the rights of the older citizens in the country.

MANEPO helps older men and women claim their rights, Challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives.
