LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The fate for Malawi National Beach Soccer team in the 2022 African Cup of Nations currently underway in Vilankulo de Arena in Mozambique will be known today as they face heavyweights Morocco in their second group A match.
Malawi lost 4-2 to the host Mozambique in their opening match three days a go in a game which Willy Kumilambe’s boys surrendered their lead twice in the first Period and second period as they were the first to score in both periods.
They however, gave away those leads due to poor defending, the attackers delayed to reach the final third of their opponent Mozambique.
The team lacked marksmanship and composure as they ended wasting chances.
Malawi at all cost need to win against Morocco with not less than 3 goals margin if they are to qualify to the next stage of the competition.
They are meeting heavyweights Morocco who won bronze in previous campaign and managed to defeat the host Mozambique by 1-3 on Sunday.
Head coach for Malawi Beach Soccer Willy Kumilambe said they are equally ready for today’s game against Morocco saying they learnt lessons from Mozambique’s defeat.
“This is a do or die game to us hence everyone in our camp knows how vital this game is.We want this game very much, from the lessons we learnt in our first game I am upbeat of doing better and qualify to the semifinal”, Kumilambe said.
The must win match for Malawi is anticipated to kick off from 12:00 hours (Midday) and two teams from group A are to qualify to the semifinals.
So far Morocco and Mozambique have high chances of qualifying as they have already won one game each.
