Big Bullets survives Mzuni Scare: Malawi TNM Super League

MZUZU(MaraviPost)—One of Malawi’s football power houses, Big Bullets FC, had to force a draw in the hands of the focused, disciplined, determined and hardworking rookies in the TNM super League, the evergreen intellectuals from Malawi’s northern region, Mzuzu University FC popularly known as Mzuni FC.

As early as six minutes in the first half, Mzuni through their danger man Mabuchi Mkochi, launched a thunderbolt from a well taken free kick past Owen Chaima, goalkeeper for Big Bullets to send the Mzuni FC supporters who came to watch the high temple game into wild jubilation.

Mzuni FC jealously defended their goal for 72 minutes of the game when Big Bullets scored through Dalitso Sailesi who forced the goal in a scrambling situation with the Mzuni defenders from a free kick to level the score, much to a deep sigh of relief on the part of the Bullets supporters who were silenced throughout the game at Mzuzu stadium. Its more likely that millions of Bullets supporters across the nation who were probably listening in disbelief to the commentary of the game on Radio 2 FM and Mij FM also breathed a sigh of relief when Sailesi forced the goal.

There it end in a one all draw much to the satisfaction of Bullets FC who were drawing closer to a shocking defeat in the hands of the inexperienced Mzuzu University Students team.

In a post match interview, Mzuni FC captain Peter Chavula praised Big Bullets for their effort to force the draw otherwise; Chavula said their game plan was to knock out Bullets.

Chavula sent a warning message to all teams in the TNM super League saying ‘teams facing us on our home ground here at Mzuzu Stadium should know that they will be dealt and done with accordingly’ adding that “we are in the super league for serious business and not to donate points.”

On his part, Mzuni Coach Alex Ngwira commended his boys for a job well done.

“I am satisfied that we have collected a point against experienced Big Bullets considering the fact that my team is coming from a lower league.”

“We urge our supporters to be coming out in large numbers to cheer our team and they can be assured of watching good football from my charges” said Ngwira.

Big Bullets will tomorrow, Sunday, face Moyale Barracks at the same Mzuzu Stadium.

Elsewhere, Azam Tigers has whacked Red Lions 2-1 at Zomba community ground.
