Former Bullets and Flames captain Peter Mponda has described the sponsorship from FISD as a relief to his team Wizards FC.
Mponda secured K60 million sponsorship barely days after severing ties with Surestream Academy.
“We thought we will be affected because Super League demands a lot financially. But after FISD came in it was a big relief after parting ways with Surestream,” Mponda said.
He said the package was also enough considering how other teams in the top flight league struggle.
“The sponsorship they are giving us is good enough because looking at how teams struggle. Most Super League teams operate on lean budget and we are happy that FSD came in with such a big sponsorship,” he said.
The former Surestream FC Technical Director said the dust has settled after protracted ownership wrangles with Surestream Academy management.
He also disclosed that the players, who banished coaches in support of Mponda were punished
“The players who were in the forefront blocking the coaches to be on the bench during their game against Mzuni because it shows lack of discipline,” he said without elaborating the nature of the punishment.
He also said the morale of players in camp was high after moving to BAT Ground from the Surestream Academy in Chilomoni. “The morale is very high the first time we trained at BAT Ground,” he said.
FISD Wizzards have been rested this week a development that Mponda said was good for the team to settle down. They are second from bottom with five points from eight games played in the TNM Super League.
