TNM injects MK16bn in network upgrades for quality services delivery

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s pioneer mobile network and ICT services provider Telekom Networks Malawi Plc (TNM) on Wednesday, June 18, 2025
announced that the company has invested over MK16 billion in its network upgrade in 650 sites across the country.

In an ambitious project to improve the quality of its network, TNM announced the successful upgrade of its telecommunications sites nationwide as part of its continued commitment to delivering faster, more reliable connectivity to its customers.

There was special focuson all the four (4) cities of Lilongwe, Blantyre, Zomba and Mzuzu while executing this massive network upgrade project.

TNM Chief Technical Officer, Lloyd Gowera told the news conference in the capital Lilongwe that the firm’s investment in its infrastructure underscores the Telco’s mission to digitally connect every Malawian.


Gowera observes that the upgrades done in over 650 sites include upgraded hardware, expanded software capacities, and the implementation of more advanced technologies to support high network quality and capacity requirements.

“These upgrades will directly benefit both residential and enterprise customers by ensuring the best quality experience in voice and data services,reduced latency, and more consistent coverage in both urban and rural areas across Malawi,” he said.

Gowera added, “The upgrades on its infrastructure demonstrates TNM’s commitment to invest in the future of communication and development in
Malawi.

“The upgrades form a critical part of the mission to provide cutting-edge digital services and support the growing demand for digital connectivity across Malawi’s diverse industries and sectors.

Gowera says TNM customers nationwide should be experiencing noticeable improvements in their service quality already.

“Their voice calls will be more clear and of best quality they can have in Malawi and likewise, their internet experience will be the best experience they can get in Malawi while browsing, streaming of games,football, videos, be it Netflix, Showmax, YouTube, TikTok amongst many other uses as such realizing the best value for their money.

“The TNM network upgrade projectincluded expansion of coverage to an additional four hundred thousand Malawians,” he added.

Gowera reiterates TNM’s commitment to innovation, quality service, and world class customer experience.

“The network improvements are expected to continue forming part of TNM’s broader growth roadmap that has exciting new products, services and new technologies.
