LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s political landscape witnessed a defining moment on July 26, as the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) officially entered into a historic electoral alliance, signaling a united front ahead of the upcoming elections.

The landmark signing ceremony brought together key political figures, including DPP’s Dr. George Chaponda, AFORD Secretary General Madam Linda Limbe, Reverend Maurice Munthali, and DPP’s running mate Jane Ansah.

The event was marked by calls for unity, national progress, and a renewed commitment to democratic values.

Leaders described the alliance as more than a political strategy calling it a pledge to put the country above individual party interests.

“This alliance is about putting Malawi first. We are coming together not just to contest an election, but to shape the future of this nation,” declared Dr. Chaponda.

In his remarks, AFORD President Enoch Chihana reaffirmed the party’s founding ideals, inspired by the legacy of the late Enock Chakufwa Chihana.

He said the alliance aligns AFORD’s democratic vision with DPP’s development-driven agenda.

Chihana emphasized that the coalition unites experience, foresight, and grassroots support setting the stage for what could be a transformative chapter in Malawi’s democratic journey.

As the alliance prepares to hit the campaign trail, Malawians now watch with anticipation hopeful that this partnership will usher in an era of unity, stability, and inclusive national development.
