LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has stressed that his top priority is restoring economic stability, saying he will not be distracted by rumours, misinformation or politically motivated attempts to divert attention from the government’s development agenda.

In a press statement signed by Chief Secretary to the Government Justin Saidi, hinted that The Malawi leader is committed to strengthening public service delivery, combating hunger and creating opportunities for economic growth.

The statement follows reports circulating on social media claiming that Mutharika did not chair last week’s Cabinet meeting.

On the delegation of presidential duties, the statement explains that the President assigns representation to the most relevant and appropriate official depending on the nature and objectives of a particular function.

The statement further assures Malawians that the Presidency remains united and committed to serving the nation.

Mutharika has only travelled twice outside the country on private trips since he retained power in September 2025 in a bid to save taxpayers money.
