MACHINGA-(MaraviPost)-A ward councillor belonging to the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Machinga has left the party following death threats he received from some of the supporters.

In his resignation letter addressed to the Secretary General of DPP, Gelzelder Geoffrey, the councillor for Mlomba Ward in Machinga Central East Constituency, Alexander Cosmas said the decision follows by circumstances that have surrounded him to resign from the Party.

“It is with deep sorrow and a heartfelt concern that I write this letter not out of wish but because I have been forced to do so due to circumstances that have surrounded me. I loved the Party and I still love it but what else can I do when no one seems to understand and Care on matters that are simple,” reads the letter in part.

However, the Secretary General for the Party has not yet responded to the letter.

Cosmas led his fellow councilors in forcing the government to increase their salaries, allowances and loans.
