Some civil society organisations (CSO) in the country have demanded President Lazarus Chakwera to get rid of his ministers by reshuffling the cabinet for allegedly taking part in the abuse of the K6.2 billion Covid-19 funds.

The organizations: Centre for Mindset Change and Forum for Democracy and Rights Defenders led by Philip Kamangira and Oliver Nakoma respectively,  have given Chakwera 24 hour ultimatum to reshuffle his cabinet, saying failing to dissolve it, will compel them to mobilise Malawians to hold vigils at all state residences in all the regions of Malawi.

The CSO have also indicated that they want Chakwera to exercise his constitutional rights by firing the cabinet ministers who were Covid-19 cluster leaders and have been named by the audit report, the way he fired the two Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) commissioners: Jean Mathanga and Linda Kunje.
