Bullets overcame a spirited Mighty Be Forward Wanderers with a 2-1 victory in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Bullets were on the back foot for a good part of the game after messing up a chance within the first minute.
Wanderers missed a number of good scoring opportunity through Precious Msosa Sparrow Msowoya.
But Bullets managed to contain the pressure to go for recess with both teams searching for goal.
Bullets hit Wanderers where it pained most after Chiukepo Msowoya made the best of veteran winger Fischer Kondowe’s cross to head home in the eighth minute.
Wanderers came back into the game with an equaliser in the 58th minute through Rafique Mussa who scored after a scramble with goalkeeper Owen Chaima.
Chaima was injured forcing the coach to substitute him for Vincent Gona.
But Bullets restored the lead in the 20th minute after Chiukepo turned provider for former Epac United to score. Both teams wasted some good chances as Bullets contained the pressure to salvage the victory.
Bullets coach Lloyd Nkhwazi was over the moon with the win describing it as relief.
‘We are happy that we have beaten them to collect maximum points because the first half we were played under pressure,’ Nkhwazi said.
Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira said the never expected to lose the game after Silver Strikers dented their unbeaten record last week.
‘ Congratulations to Bullets for winning but it’s a painful loss to us having dominated the game,’ Madeira said.
The win has seen Bullets maintaining the lead with 24 points opening a four-point gap with Wanderers.
