LONDON-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s esteemed lawyer and former Attorney General, Kalekeni Kaphale, has attained a significant milestone by earning a PhD in Law from Nottingham Law School in the United Kingdom.

The graduation ceremony, which took place today, was a vibrant celebration of Dr. Kaphale’s academic achievement.

Dr. Kaphale’s PhD thesis focused on insolvency law, conflict of laws, and community law, specifically exploring the necessity of harmonizing transaction avoidance rules in insolvency laws within the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.

This groundbreaking research underscores Dr. Kaphale’s expertise in critical areas of law.

As a Senior Counsel, former law lecturer at the University of Malawi, and current private practice lawyer, Dr. Kaphale has emphasized the importance of quality higher legal education for legal practitioners in Malawi to ensure quality service delivery.

His stance is rooted in the belief that new societal problems require innovative solutions, which can only be crafted by individuals with a strong philosophical foundation.

Notably, Dr. Kaphale was part of the defense team in the landmark 2020 elections case, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in Malawi’s legal landscape.
